You have purchased an acrylic brush… your best friend from now .. your hand extension … brand new beautiful number 8, 10 or 14 acrylic nail brush! But before you use it for the first time, make sure it is treated properly. Not everyone knows the brush maintenance and that leads to all sorts of trouble. Let’s avoid this !
But even after is all cleaned, don’t forget treating your new brush with respect. Ideally if you store him in a nice brush box, and never ever keep it in a jar, with its hair up. It will end up very quickly looking like a broom . Better make sure you look after him, as if it was your lover, so it will last for many months and even years !
Many will say that your first step is to soak the new brush in liquid… And that’s where the trouble starts.
So this is what really needs to be done with your new acrylic brush:
Step 1. Remove the plastic protection cap. Do not place this back when the brush has been in contact with acrylic liquid. The liquid can cause the plastic cap to melt together with the hair of the brush. Later that will be stuck, some hair lost and again sooner or later your brush will look like a broom stick.
Step 2. The hair of a new brush is shaped with Arabic gum. This has to be removed thoroughly by rolling the brush head over a lint- free nail wipe. The hair splits when the Arabic gum is not removed completely, this damage is irreversible. Pieces of Arabic gum will be stuck between the hairs like a chewing gum if it is not removed and brush placed in acrylic liquid. Never use for cleaning cold or hot water, special “cleaner”, alcohol or acetone. Those liquids will slowly destroy the brush especially acetone, which is too harsh and will dehydrate the strands of any nail brush. As a result, you will find the bristles become too fanned out and that they won’t grip acrylic beads as well as they used too.
Step 3. After all pieces of Arabic gum is removed, take clean liquid and submerge the hair of the brush. Turn the brush to make sure that all the hair is coated with liquid. After this step the hair of the brush should not be touched with fingers anymore.
Step 4. When brush is clean with liquid, be certain that all the liquid is gone from the metal ferrule to prevent discoloration. The residual liquid is not suitable for use because of possible contamination of the Arabic gum particles.
Step 5. When you are not using your brush it is important to bring the hair to the desired shape (original shape) and storing the brush either lying horizontally or hanging up side down which is possible when using our click-on Magnetic system.
If any acrylic solidifies in the brush hair, which happens, don’t worry, but remember : it must not be scraped or cut out. The brush needs to be soaked in a clan monomer liquid for at least 20 min. Then wipe with brush wipe and repeat if needed. A little bit of patience will save your brush and your wallet 😉
